How to Send a PDF to a Fax Number?

Upload your PDF in Fax.Plus, enter the recipient's fax number, and send it from your computer or phone. No fax machine or landline is needed. Check the PDF first, then follow these steps:

Sign up for a free account on Fax.Plus and log in. If you are faxing a PDF from phone, get the Fax.Plus app from Apple App Store or Google Play.

Go to the Send Fax section in your Fax.Plus Dashboard and type in the fax number of your recipient, including the country code and area code. You can send fax online to multiple fax numbers at once.

Attach your PDF document(s), and add an optional fax cover sheet. Open the final PDF first to check that all pages, filled fields and signatures are visible.

Arrange your attached files in the desired order. Pages within each PDF follow that PDF's page order, so check both before sending.

Click Send to submit your fax. Check its final status in your Fax.Plus Dashboard or confirmation email. Successful transmission confirms receipt by the destination fax equipment, not that a person has read or accepted it.

Send a PDF from a browser on Windows or macOS, the Fax.Plus app on iPhone or Android, or an email account with Email to Fax enabled. Choose the method that matches where your PDF is saved, then check the final transmission status.

How to Fax a PDF from Computer?

Upload a saved PDF from your PC or Mac using the Fax.Plus web app. You do not need to print the PDF, install a desktop app or connect a landline.

Open the Send Fax section in your Fax.Plus Dashboard and enter your recipient's fax number.

Attach your PDF file, check its pages, and add an optional cover page.

Click Send to submit your fax. Check the final status in your account or confirmation email.

How to Fax a PDF from Phone?

With Fax.Plus, you can fax a saved PDF from an iPhone or Android phone. Follow these five steps:

Download the Fax.Plus mobile app from Apple App Store or Google Play.

Navigate to the Send Fax section, enter the recipient's fax number.

Attach the saved PDF you want to send, check its pages, and include a cover page if needed.

Tap Send to submit your PDF fax. Check the final transmission status in the app or confirmation email.

Can you fax a PDF from Gmail, Outlook or Yahoo?

You can attach a PDF to an email and send it through Fax.Plus with Gmail, Outlook or another email provider. Email to Fax requires an eligible paid plan, the feature enabled in your account, and an authorized sender address.

Confirm that Email to Fax is enabled on your eligible plan and use an email address authorized in your Fax.Plus account.

Compose an email, entering the recipient's fax number in the "To" field. Write the destination’s fax number (including country and area code) followed by @fax.plus (for example, +16692001010@fax.plus).

Attach the final PDF you want to fax. Check that filled fields and signatures are visible in the saved file.

Send the email to submit your PDF fax, then check the Fax.Plus transmission status or confirmation email.

Does Adobe have a fax service?

Save the document you prepared in Adobe Acrobat or Reader as a PDF, then upload it to Fax.Plus. This workflow uses a saved PDF and does not require a built-in Adobe fax service. Here is how:

Save your document as a PDF. If it contains filled fields or annotations, create a flattened copy and reopen it to check the content.

Open the Send Fax section in your Fax.Plus Dashboard and enter your recipient's fax number.

Attach the final PDF you want to fax, and add an optional cover page if needed.

Click Send to submit your fax, then check the final transmission status.

How to Fax a PDF from Drive?

To fax a PDF saved in Google Drive, use the installed Fax.Plus Google Workspace add-on. Sign in and authorize the add-on before sending. If your organization restricts add-ons, ask your administrator about access.

Navigate to Google Drive and locate the document you wish to fax.

Open the saved PDF with the installed Fax.Plus add-on. If it is unavailable, check installation and your organization's add-on permissions.

Enter the recipient's fax number in international format, review the PDF, and submit your fax.

Scan a PDF to Fax

If your document is still on paper, use the Fax.Plus mobile app to scan its pages before faxing. Check that text is readable and no page edges are cut off.

Download the Fax.Plus mobile app from Apple App Store or Google Play.

Launch the app and go to the Send Fax section on the Dashboard.

Tap Add File and choose Scan with Camera to start scanning. Note: You may need to grant permission to access the camera.

Scan the document, make necessary edits such as cropping or enhancing the image, and tap Next.

Enter the recipient's fax number and click on Send.

Sign a PDF before faxing

For a fax already in your Inbox or Sent archive, forward it to Sign.Plus to sign it yourself or request a signature. Complete signing there, then save the signed PDF and attach it to a new fax in Fax.Plus.

Find the tab for Inbox or Sent.

Look for the fax you wish to sign, click on More (⋮).

Click on Forward to Sign.Plus, and wait for Sign.Plus to load.

Choose Sign Myself or Request Signature in Sign.Plus. After signing is complete, save the signed PDF and attach it to a new fax in Fax.Plus.

Troubleshoot a PDF fax

PDF upload errors: Password-protected PDFs are unsupported. Use an authorized unprotected copy. For a malformed file, save a fresh PDF and reopen it before uploading. If filled fields or annotations are missing, create a flattened copy and inspect the result.

Fax number errors: Verify the recipient's fax number, including country and area code. If transmission fails, check the final error or report before retrying.

Transmission failures: A busy line, no answer or recipient equipment problem can prevent delivery. Check the final status and the recipient's fax line. Automatic retries do not guarantee delivery.

File limits: Fax.Plus supports up to ten attached files in one fax. File-size and page limits also apply and can vary by plan or sending method. Check the current limits shown for your account before uploading.

How can I send a PDF to a fax number for free?

After mobile verification, a new Free account receives a one-time allowance of ten standard fax pages. This is a page allowance, not ten PDF files or a monthly allowance. High-rate destinations can consume more allowance; check the destination cost before sending. Certain high-rate destinations require a paid plan.

Share your fax number

Find your assigned fax number in the Faxes section of the Fax.Plus Dashboard. Make sure senders use the correct country code and area code (e.g. +16692001010).

Stay notified

Received faxes appear under Faxes > Inbox. Depending on your notification settings, you can also receive online faxes by email as PDF attachments. Check account settings for email and push notifications.

Can I send a PDF to a fax number or fax machine?

Yes. Fax.Plus converts the pages of your uploaded PDF into fax images and sends them to the destination fax number, including a physical fax machine. The recipient does not need your original PDF file or a Fax.Plus account. Check that the number belongs to the intended recipient before sending.

Can I fax a PDF from my computer for free?

A new Free account receives a one-time allowance of ten standard fax pages after mobile verification. Pages in your PDF and any cover sheet count toward usage. High-rate destinations can consume more allowance. This is not a monthly allowance or ten free PDF documents, and the Free plan does not include fax reception. Certain high-rate destinations require a paid plan.

Do I need to print or convert my PDF before faxing?

You do not need to print a PDF before uploading it to Fax.Plus. Open the saved file and check every page. If it includes filled form fields, annotations or signatures, create a flattened copy, such as by printing to PDF, then reopen that copy and check that the content is still visible.

Can I fax a PDF from my phone?

Yes. Use the Fax.Plus app on iPhone or Android to attach a PDF saved on your phone or available through its file picker. Check the document and recipient number before sending. You need an internet connection and sufficient sending allowance; a mobile phone number is not itself the destination fax number.

Will the recipient receive an identical PDF in color?

To fax numbers outside Fax.Plus, fax transmission sends page images in black and white. Fax.Plus-to-Fax.Plus transmission can support color. The recipient may receive printed pages or a PDF generated by their fax service, rather than your original file. Check readability and contrast without relying on color for essential details.

Can I fax a password-protected PDF?

Password-protected PDFs are not supported for fax upload. If you are authorized to access the document, create an unprotected copy using your PDF software, then reopen it to check every page before uploading. Do not remove protections without authorization. A corrupt or malformed PDF may need to be saved again.

Is Fax.Plus HIPAA compliant?

HIPAA use requires an eligible Enterprise setup, an executed Business Associate Agreement and HIPAA mode enabled. A Free account is not a HIPAA solution. Follow your organization's handling rules, confirm the recipient number and use the required account safeguards before faxing a PDF containing protected health information.

Why were fields or signatures missing from my PDF fax?

Some PDF fields, annotations or signatures can appear in your viewer without being included correctly in the fax conversion. Create a flattened PDF copy, then reopen it and inspect all pages before uploading again. Check the transmission result and ask the recipient to verify readability when the contents are important.

Does a successful fax report prove my PDF was read?

No. A successful transmission report confirms that the destination fax equipment accepted the fax transmission. It does not prove that a person read the document, that every page is legible, or that an organization accepted a filing. Check the number, page count and final status, then confirm acceptance directly when required.
