Find unread faxes, mark them read, add notes and tag faxes from Claude or ChatGPT. Step-by-step with the Fax.Plus MCP connector and copy-ready prompts.
Keep your fax inbox tidy from Claude or ChatGPT with the Fax.Plus MCP connector: find unread faxes, mark them read, add a note such as a case number, tag several at once, or remove a record.
For connection help, see the Fax.Plus MCP setup hub and the client connection guide.
list-faxes (list fax records). This is read-only.update-fax: update fax metadata, is_read and comment).bulk-update-faxes: bulk update fax metadata).delete-fax, marked destructive in the tool catalog).Finding faxes changes nothing. Marking, commenting and deleting change the fax record, not the fax pages.
These are write actions on your real inbox. A comment or a read mark is easy to change back, but deleting a fax record is destructive and the record may not come back, and records like these often serve as proof of what arrived. Check which faxes the assistant names, and keep the Fax.Plus fax tools on Needs approval so nothing changes without your OK.
Copy a prompt into your connected assistant and replace the text in brackets.

Mark as read
Mark my newest received fax as read. Show me which fax you will change and wait for my OK.
Add a note
Add the comment [your note] to my newest received fax. Show me the change first and wait for my OK.
Tag several faxes
Add the comment [case number] to my 3 newest received faxes. List the faxes first and wait for my OK.
After a change, the assistant reports what it updated. Ask it to show the fax again to confirm the read mark or the comment. A comment is saved on the fax record and the pages stay as they were.
If a tool is unavailable or reports a failure, the change did not run; check the connection and the account before trying again. If a lookup returns no entries, no faxes match the request.
Keep sender numbers and document contents out of shared screenshots and summaries.

Yes. Ask your assistant to add a comment to the fax, for example a case number or the name of the project it belongs to. The comment is saved on the fax record and the fax itself is not changed.
Marking, commenting and deleting are write actions, so your client asks for approval first. Deleting a fax record is destructive and the record may not come back. Keep the Fax.Plus delete tool set to Needs approval and check which fax is named before you confirm.
The authorization may not have finished. Return to your assistant, complete the Fax.Plus sign-in and refresh the connection. In Claude, reopen the connector under Settings → Connectors. In ChatGPT, select Refresh. Tools set to Blocked in the permissions also cannot be used. If the problem continues, contact Alohi Support with the client name and the error. Do not include passwords or tokens.
Connecting the connector and using it in a chat are separate steps. Open the conversation, select + → Connectors and make sure FaxPlus is enabled. Also check the connector's tool permissions: tools set to Blocked cannot run, and tools set to Needs approval wait for your confirmation. If FaxPlus is missing from the list, go back to Settings → Connectors and confirm that it shows as connected.
Select FaxPlus from the available apps or tools in the chat, or type @ and choose it. If it is not listed, open the app, sign in again and select Refresh. Available options depend on your ChatGPT plan and workspace settings.
