What is the Fax.Plus MCP Server?
It connects a compatible AI assistant to your Fax.Plus account through the Model Context Protocol (MCP). You can request fax tasks in plain language without building an integration yourself.
Which AI clients work with Fax.Plus MCP?
Your AI client must support remote MCP connections and a compatible authentication method. See the Claude and ChatGPT setup tabs above, or check your client’s documentation. Availability and supported actions can vary by app, plan, device, and workspace permissions.
What do I need to get started?
You need a paid Fax.Plus plan and an AI client that supports remote MCP connections. Basic, Premium, and Business require an OAuth-capable client. Enterprise also supports Personal Access Tokens. A workspace administrator may need to enable access.
Can I use MCP with a HIPAA or PHIPA account?
No. Fax.Plus MCP is not available for accounts with Advanced Security Controls enabled, including HIPAA and PHIPA accounts.
Does my AI assistant see the content of my faxes?
Your assistant can receive information returned by the Fax.Plus actions you authorize. What it can access depends on the permissions granted and the tools used. Review your AI provider’s privacy and data-use settings before sharing sensitive information.
Can I limit what an AI assistant can do?
Yes. Access depends on your Fax.Plus account permissions and the permissions granted to the connection. Review the requested access during OAuth sign-in. On Enterprise, you can also use a Personal Access Token with only the scopes your workflow needs.
Which Fax.Plus plan do I need?
Fax.Plus MCP is available on paid plans, starting with Basic. Basic, Premium, and Business connect through OAuth; Enterprise also supports Personal Access Tokens. The Free plan and accounts with Advanced Security Controls enabled are excluded. Your AI provider may have separate plan or workspace requirements.
Can I use Fax.Plus MCP alongside the REST API?
Yes. Use MCP for tasks through an AI assistant and the REST API for integrations controlled by your application. The REST API has its own access requirements; MCP availability on a paid plan does not imply REST API access.
