Manage Team Fax Numbers with AI

On a corporate Fax.Plus account, see your team and assign fax numbers to members from Claude or ChatGPT with the Fax.Plus MCP connector: who is on the account, what role and quota they have, and which number belongs to whom.

Before you start

• Use a corporate Fax.Plus account on a paid plan and an existing authorized Fax.Plus MCP connection. The team tools may need an admin or owner role.
• Use a compatible client with remote MCP support. These steps use Claude web; interface labels may differ in ChatGPT and other clients.
• MCP is unavailable for accounts with Advanced Security Controls, including HIPAA and PHIPA configurations.

How to see your team and assign numbers

1. Open a new chat. Use your connected assistant with Fax.Plus available.
2. See your team. Enter “Show the members of my account.” The tool catalog calls this list-members (list corporate members). This is read-only.
3. Check one member. Ask for a member's role and quota (get-member-details: get corporate member role and quota). This is read-only.
4. See your numbers. Ask which numbers you have and who they are assigned to (list-numbers, get-number). See find your fax numbers.
5. Assign a number. Name the number and the member. The assistant shows the change and asks for your OK (update-number: update number assignment).

Looking at the team and the numbers changes nothing. Assigning a number does.

Before you confirm

Assigning a number changes who the number is assigned to on your account. Check the number and the team member the assistant names before you confirm, and keep the Fax.Plus number tool on Needs approval so nothing changes without your OK.

What the assistant cannot do

Inviting members, changing roles and quotas, and resending invitations are available through the REST API only. They change who has access to the account, so they are not exposed as MCP tools. See MCP or REST API.

Understand the result

A team lookup returns the members of the account and their roles. If the assistant says it is not allowed, your role may not include the team tools; check your plan and role first. After an assignment, ask the assistant to show the number again to confirm who it is assigned to.

If a tool is unavailable or reports a failure, the action did not run; check the connection and the account before trying again.
