American Family takes documents for an existing claim by fax, 24 hours a day, at one central number. It is the same intake for any policyholder, and every page you send needs the claim number on it.
Who This Page Is For
Policyholders sending paperwork on a claim that is already open. That is unusually direct for an insurer: no provider-only carve-out, no separate biller line. Anyone acting on your behalf can use the same number as long as your claim number is on the pages. If you have not reported the loss yet, this is not the right route.
American Family Insurance publishes a single fax line for documents on an existing claim: 1-866-935-2858, staffed as a 24 hour, 7 day intake. Estimates, receipts, repair invoices, medical bills, signed forms and correspondence all go to that one number. It is run by American Family Insurance Claims Services, Inc. (AFICS), the claims arm of the group. A separate fax, 1-920-330-5607, handles policy and billing paperwork and is not a claims destination.

A claim packet is usually heavier than expected: a repair estimate, photographs, receipts, and sometimes a signed form. Send it as a single transmission with a claim cover page carrying your name, claim number and callback number. Photo-heavy claim evidence is exactly the case where sending a large file without shrinking it into illegibility matters.
Dealing with more than one insurer on the same incident is common. Our directory also covers CNA's fax numbers, how to fax Chubb, the Travelers fax page, Selective Insurance's claims fax, and sending a fax to Sentry Insurance, each with its own destination and audience notes.

AFICS is American Family Insurance Claims Services, Inc., the claims organisation inside the American Family group. The document email address and the Madison mailing address both carry that name, so correspondence coming back to you may be branded AFICS. It is the same company handling your claim.
Yes. American Family lists the identical claims document fax across its different distribution channels, alongside the same shared claims mailing address in Madison. The customer service phone number differs by channel, but the claims document intake does not.
Get it before you send anything. American Family's own instruction is to include the claim number on all correspondence, and a fax that arrives without one cannot be attached to your file. The 24 hour claims line, 1-800-692-6326, will give you the number.
