  • Look up, add, update and delete fax contacts from Claude or ChatGPT.
  • Looking up is read-only; changes ask for your approval.
  • Saved contacts also work when you send a fax.
  • Works with Claude, ChatGPT and other AI assistants that support remote MCP with OAuth sign-in.

Keep your fax contacts in order from Claude or ChatGPT with the Fax.Plus MCP connector: look up a contact, add a new one, correct a number or remove one, in plain words.

Before you start

  • Use an active Fax.Plus Basic plan or higher and an existing authorized Fax.Plus MCP connection.
  • Use a compatible client with remote MCP support. These steps use Claude web; interface labels may differ in ChatGPT and other clients.
  • MCP is unavailable for accounts with Advanced Security Controls, including HIPAA and PHIPA configurations.
  • Confirm that the connection uses the account that holds your contacts.

For connection help, see the Fax.Plus MCP setup hub and the client connection guide.

How to manage your contacts

  1. Open a new chat. Use your connected assistant with Fax.Plus available.
  2. Look up contacts. Enter “Show my Fax.Plus contacts.” The tool catalog calls this list-contacts (list contacts). This is read-only.
  3. Add a contact. Give the name and the fax number. The assistant shows what it will save and asks for your OK (create-contact: create contact).
  4. Change a contact. Name the contact and the new detail. The assistant shows the change and asks for your OK (update-contact: update contact).
  5. Remove a contact. Name the contact. The assistant confirms which one before it deletes (delete-contact, marked destructive in the tool catalog).

Looking contacts up changes nothing. Adding, changing and deleting do.

Before you confirm

Adding, changing and deleting are write actions on your real contact list. Check the name and the fax number the assistant shows, and for a deletion check that it names the right contact, because a deleted contact may not come back. Keep the Fax.Plus contact tools on Needs approval so nothing changes without your OK.

Example prompts

Copy a prompt into your connected assistant and replace the text in brackets.

See my contacts

Copy prompt

Look one up

Find the contact named [name] and tell me whether a fax number is saved.

Copy prompt

Add a contact

Add a contact named [name] with the fax number [fax number]. Show me what you will save and wait for my OK.

Update a number

Update the fax number of [name] to [new fax number]. Show me the change first and wait for my OK.

Understand the result

A lookup returns the contacts on your account with the details saved for each. If the list is empty, no contacts match the request. After an add or a change, ask the assistant to show the contact again to confirm what was saved.

If a tool is unavailable or reports a failure, the action did not run; check the connection and the account before trying again. Saved contacts also work when you send a fax: you can name the contact instead of typing the number.

Keep contact details out of shared screenshots and summaries.

FAQs

Will the assistant delete a contact without asking me?

Adding, changing and deleting contacts are write actions, so your client asks for approval first. Deleting is destructive. Keep the Fax.Plus contact tools set to Needs approval and check which contact is named before you confirm.

Can I use a saved contact when I send a fax?

Yes. When you ask your assistant to send a fax, it can look up your saved contacts, so you can name the contact instead of typing the number. Check the number it shows before you confirm the send.

Why do I see no Fax.Plus tools after signing in?

The authorization may not have finished. Return to your assistant, complete the Fax.Plus sign-in and refresh the connection. In Claude, reopen the connector under Settings → Connectors. In ChatGPT, select Refresh. Tools set to Blocked in the permissions also cannot be used. If the problem continues, contact Alohi Support with the client name and the error. Do not include passwords or tokens.

Why does Claude not use Fax.Plus in my conversation?

Connecting the connector and using it in a chat are separate steps. Open the conversation, select + → Connectors and make sure FaxPlus is enabled. Also check the connector's tool permissions: tools set to Blocked cannot run, and tools set to Needs approval wait for your confirmation. If FaxPlus is missing from the list, go back to Settings → Connectors and confirm that it shows as connected.

Why does ChatGPT not use Fax.Plus in my conversation?

Select FaxPlus from the available apps or tools in the chat, or type @ and choose it. If it is not listed, open the app, sign in again and select Refresh. Available options depend on your ChatGPT plan and workspace settings.

Can I connect a HIPAA or PHIPA Fax.Plus account?

No. Fax.Plus MCP is unavailable for accounts with Advanced Security Controls enabled, including HIPAA and PHIPA configurations. Keep the security controls required by your organization in place and contact Alohi to discuss a suitable integration.

Do I need Fax.Plus Enterprise to use MCP?

No. OAuth connections are available on paid Fax.Plus plans starting with Basic. Enterprise is required for Personal Access Tokens. Your AI assistant has its own access requirements. See plan availability.
