Connect Fax.Plus MCP to ChatGPT with OAuth, review access permissions, and make the connection available in your conversations.

- Add the hosted Fax.Plus MCP server to ChatGPT using OAuth.
- Sign in to your Fax.Plus account and review the requested access.
- Select or enable FaxPlus in a conversation to start using the connection.
Before you start
- Use an active Fax.Plus Basic plan or higher. The Free plan is not supported.
- Your Fax.Plus account must not have Advanced Security Controls enabled, including HIPAA or PHIPA configurations. Keep any security controls your organization requires in place.
- Use ChatGPT on the web with permission to add a custom MCP connection. Your plan and workspace settings determine which options and actions are available.
This setup uses OAuth, so you do not need to create a Personal Access Token. Check the Fax.Plus MCP requirements.
Connect Fax.Plus MCP to ChatGPT
Menu labels may differ: OpenAI's current guide also shows an Add custom MCP server option under Plugins.
Enable developer mode
Open your profile menu, select Settings, then Security and login. Turn on Developer mode. If your workspace does not allow this, ask your administrator before continuing.

Open the MCP app form
Go to Plugins → Browse plugins. Select the + icon, then Create app → Create MCP App.

Add the Fax.Plus MCP server
Copy the name and URL below into the name and server URL fields, add a short description such as “Connect to my Fax.Plus account to manage fax tasks”, and select OAuth. Check the server address, review the trust warning, select the trust confirmation if you agree, and click Create.

Sign in and refresh
Select Sign in with FaxPlus. Sign in to your intended Fax.Plus account and review the requested permissions before approving access. Return to ChatGPT and select Refresh.

If you get stuck
- The creation option is missing: check your ChatGPT plan and workspace permissions, and consult the linked OpenAI guide for your interface.
- Fax.Plus rejects the account: confirm the paid plan and Advanced Security Controls requirements above.
- Tools are unavailable after sign-in: refresh the connection and check that authorization finished successfully.
- Authorization or redirect errors persist: contact Alohi Support with the client name and error. Do not include passwords or tokens.

Your connection is ready. Open a new chat and select FaxPlus from the available apps or tools, or type @ to select it. Describe what you want to do and review any action-approval request before continuing.

FAQs
Do I need Fax.Plus Enterprise to use MCP?
No. OAuth connections are available on paid Fax.Plus plans starting with Basic. Enterprise is required for Personal Access Tokens. Your AI assistant has its own access requirements. See plan availability.
Can I connect a HIPAA or PHIPA Fax.Plus account?
No. Fax.Plus MCP is unavailable for accounts with Advanced Security Controls enabled, including HIPAA and PHIPA configurations. Keep the security controls required by your organization in place and contact Alohi to discuss a suitable integration.
Why can I not see the custom MCP option in ChatGPT?
Custom MCP access depends on your ChatGPT account and workspace permissions. Your interface may use Plugins or Apps, and the Apps flow may require developer mode. Check OpenAI's current requirements or ask your workspace administrator.
How do I use Fax.Plus after connecting it to ChatGPT?
Open a new chat and select FaxPlus from the available apps or tools, or type @ to select it. Describe the task you want help with and review any action-approval request. Available actions depend on your account permissions and ChatGPT settings.
Why does ChatGPT not use Fax.Plus in my conversation?
Select FaxPlus from the available apps or tools in the chat, or type @ and choose it. If it is not listed, open the app, sign in again and select Refresh. Available options depend on your ChatGPT plan and workspace settings.
Why is my Fax.Plus account rejected when I connect?
Fax.Plus MCP needs a paid plan, Basic or higher. The Free plan is not supported. It is also unavailable for accounts with Advanced Security Controls enabled, including HIPAA and PHIPA configurations. Check the plan and security settings of the account you signed in with, and confirm that you used the intended account if you have more than one. See plan availability.
Why do I see no Fax.Plus tools after signing in?
The authorization may not have finished. Return to your assistant, complete the Fax.Plus sign-in and refresh the connection. In Claude, reopen the connector under Settings → Connectors. In ChatGPT, select Refresh. Tools set to Blocked in the permissions also cannot be used. If the problem continues, contact Alohi Support with the client name and the error. Do not include passwords or tokens.
