What is USAA's fax number for claims?

USAA publishes a claims fax number and, unlike most property and casualty insurers, actually points customers at it. Claim photos and documents go to 800-531-8669, with your name and member number written at the top of every page. USAA gives the same number to third-party claimants, people filing against a USAA member rather than holding a policy, asking only that they use their name and claim number instead. That makes this one of the few genuinely consumer-facing insurance fax routes, not a provider-only billing line.

Which route should I use?

1. Sending anything about a claim, as a member or a third party? Use 800-531-8669, the only number USAA labels as a claims fax.
2. Sending a policy or service document unrelated to a claim? That's 800-531-8877. Banking paperwork uses 800-531-5717.
3. Stationed or living outside the United States? Use 00-800-872-28222 rather than the domestic number.
4. Handling New Jersey personal injury protection precertification? That runs through USAA's vendor CCC on 877-395-7127.

The wrong-route risk comes from USAA's own support page, which lists the general insurance fax and the claims fax within a few lines of each other. Claim paperwork sent to the general service fax does not land on your claim file.

What to include on the fax

USAA asks for your name and member number at the top of every page if you are a member, and your name and claim number if you are filing a third-party claim.
