The Hartford does not run one central claims fax, it splits by line of business, and workers' compensation splits again by state. If your claim is in Texas, California, Florida or New Jersey, medical and prescription bills go to 859-258-2239. For every other state, they go to 859-258-2235. Auto, home and general business claims have no published fax route.

Which route should I use?

1. Identify the coverage, not the document. A medical bill under workers' comp and one under a group accident plan go to different fax numbers.
2. If it is workers' comp, look at the state your claim was filed in, not the state you live in.
3. Converting or continuing group life coverage after leaving a job: that is the Cleveland number, not a claims number.
4. Auto, home or general business claim: The Hartford publishes phone and online routes, a number found elsewhere is not theirs.

What to include

For a workers' comp reimbursement you already paid, The Hartford asks for a copy of the bill, proof you paid it, and the claim number. A bill, a payment receipt and your own cover sheet already add up to a multi-page packet, so send it as one transmission and keep the claim number on every page.
