What are the Fax.Plus security measures to safeguard users’ data?

The privacy and security of our users’ data is our number one priority. We take extreme security measures to ensure the highest level of security and privacy for all our users and their data.

Data encryption in transit and at rest:
Fax files at rest are encrypted using 256-bit Advanced Encryption Standard (AES).

To ensure the security of data transmitted between Fax.Plus apps (currently mobile, API, or web) and our servers, Fax.Plus employs Transport Layer Security (TLS). TLS is an advanced encryption protocol that has evolved from its predecessor, Secure Sockets Layer (SSL). This protocol establishes a secure connection, creating a protected tunnel safeguarded by Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) encryption with a minimum bit length of 128 bits or higher.

Fax.Plus supports TLS 1.3 which is faster and more secure than TLS 1.2 and adds an additional layer of privacy to an encrypted connection, making certain that the two endpoints are the only ones capable of decrypting the traffic.

Web application firewalls (WAF): Aside from complex network level firewalls, we use enterprise-class web application firewalls (WAF) to protect our service from vulnerabilities like SQL injection attacks, cross-site scripting, and cross-site forgery.

Hardware level security: By default, all fax files are stored in Swiss data centers that operate from locations conforming to the most restrictive security standards (ISO 27001) and are part of the Cloud Security Alliance (CSA). To address regional data residency requirements, you can choose to reside all your stored faxed files in a region of your own choice in the U.S., Canada, Australia, Europe, or Asia. Our data centers in the United States comply with certain region-specific regulations such as California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and FedRAMP, to deliver a seamless cloud-based faxing experience while addressing compliance concerns. Learn more about data residency.

DDoS protection: We make use of a CDN with network capacity 15x bigger than the largest DDoS attack ever recorded to protect our service from potential DDoS attacks.
